Here is Congresswoman Candy Miller’s response to President Obama’s decision to keep Gitmo open and to resume military trials.
“I am glad that President Obama has finally given up his misguided and dangerous plan to quickly close the Guantanamo terrorist detention facility and try these enemy combatants in civilian courts,” the Harrison Township Republican said. “For the first two years of his Presidency, a large bipartisan majority in Congress has worked tirelessly to impress upon him the threat his plan posed to our security and to deny any funding to allow him to move forward on that plan.  “Only because of this effort did we avoid costly trials of enemy combatants in our federal courts that would have provided a forum for these enemies of freedom to spout their hate of America to the world.  I commend the President for finally coming to the correct conclusion that enemy combatants should be tried in military commissions.  Now at long last it is time to bring these enemies of America to justice.”
