Former first lady Laura Bush, during an interview on Fox News this morning, said she is encouraged by the “freedom movements” that have taken hold throughout the Middle East.
“If we (the United States) don’t stand up for freedom, who will?” she said.
When a sound bite from a recent interview with former president George W. Bush was played, Laura Bush agreed with her husband that any reduction in the U.S. effort in Afghanistan would be a setback for Afghani women.

W said that U.S. funding is “liberating Afghan women, empowering Afghan women, encouraging Afghan women and educating Afghan women.”
