The much-maligned Mainstream Media — or the “liberal” media, if you like — has really jumped all over Republican Rick Santorum.
In one new Iowa poll, the former senator moved up to 16 percent — still a relatively modest showing — and what does the media do? They latch onto the phrase “Santorum surge.” All day yesterday, the cable TV networks and the major newspapers were focused — some might say obsessed — with Santorum’s sudden third place showing, behind Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.
How could it be that Santorum, who is probably the most conservative candidate in the GOP field, has garnered so much attention and positive coverage from the liberal MSM? What could be happening here?
Could it be that, five days before the Iowa caucuses, a candidate who is suddenly showing momentum is … well… news?
