To say that the Republicans are uncertain about who they prefer for 2012 is, obviously, an understatement. But Kent Sorenson raises the fickleness to a new level.
As you may have heard, Sorenson, Michele Bachmann’s campaign chair in Iowa, has switched allegiance to Ron Paul. And he made the change just hours after appearing at a Bachmann campaign event.
According to The Daily Beast, Sorenson, a state senator, was one of the congresswoman’s most high-profile advisers in the Hawkeye state.
He jumped on the libertarian bandwagon by announcing at a Paul rally, “Tonight’s a little tough for me. I’ve been serving as Michele Bachmann’s state chair for the last year. And while Michele has fought tremendously for my conservative values, I believe we’re at a turning point in this campaign.”
But there’s a Part II to this story: Bachmann claimed that Sorenson confessed to “selling out” after being offered a large sum of money. Given Bachmann’s penchant for speaking untruths, watch for her spin on the story to backfire in a big way.
