Courser and Gamrat

A hint of forgiveness for disgraced Reps. Todd Courser
and Cindy Gamrat – and a screed against the establishment Republicans running the
investigation of their tea party sex scandal – emerged over the weekend among
the far right of the Michigan GOP.

Isabelle Terry, a Kent County conservative activist and former
GOP state committee member, submitted a right-wing rant to a website in which
she essentially claims Lansing is a modern-day Sodom
and Gomorrah where sleazy sex is accepted – unless you practice tea
party politics.

The GOP leadership looks the other way as lawmakers and
aides engage in sexual escapades and drug use – even by the “effeminate men
romping around the MIGOP” who take party in gay sex – except in the case of
Courser and Gamrat, according to Terry.

The real hypocrites in this whole smarmy affair and
cover-up, Terry wrote, are the political “sluts” in the GOP
establishment who are determined to oust Courser and Gamrat from office.

Here are the opening sentences of the screed she
submitted to the Right Michigan site:

“There is a saying in Lansing: What happens in Lansing
after 5 PM stays in Lansing.

“It is a small suburb of Vegas in the debauchery sense.

“Deals over taxpayer money suddenly turn to deals over
acts of heterosexual sex, homosexual sex (likely more rampant than the heterosexual
sex judging by the huge numbers of effeminate men romping around the MIGOP) and
drugs (sic) use. The politicos are sluts in money, power, and physical highs.

“Players play, secrets are kept.

“That is… unless you are speaking the truth.”

Terry, right, was supported by Republican National Committee member
Dave Agema, left, during her unsuccessful run for the RNC in February.
In Terry’s world, Courser and Gamrat will be forgiven by
God, but not the party leaders. The two maverick lawmakers maintain the moral
high ground and will continue to preach traditional “Judaeo-Christian (sic)” values
because Christians will grant them forgiveness them for their extramarital
affair. And for that reason, Terry, vice chair of the 3rd Congressional
District GOP, is celebrating their decision not to step down.

Here’s a little more of what she wrote on rightmi.com:

“You see, secrets are kept ONLY if the pols go along with
the political elite. Todd and Cindy would’ve been ok, their secret kept, if
they had become Republican squish. RINO’s and the political elite don’t care
about morality or anything else. They only care about retaining power, chasing
more power & money and chasing after slutty physical comforts. Aside from
their suspicious endorsement of Little Ronna RINO (Ronna Romney McDaniel) for
MIGOP Chair Todd and Cindy have held their end of the bargain with their
Freedom Loving, Tea Party, Liberty and Conservative constituents. And THAT is
THE unforgivable sin in Lansing.

“So I’m ECSTATIC that Todd and Cindy have not resigned!

“Yeah, what they did was terrible. But here’s a news
flash: Christians sin too! And it is precisely why (they) hold fast to
atonement, redemption and salvation in Jesus Christ. You won’t see Cindy and
Todd holding Adultery Pride Parades to trick others into engaging in sinful
behavior. They will always hold up Traditional Marriage and family values even
in light of their personal failings.

“Todd and Cindy have not lost the moral high ground in
their service to the good people in their districts. If sex outside of the
marital bed were the litmus test in Lansing the capital city would be a ghost
town that’s even more run down than Detroit.”

Terry’s commentary was posted by Right Michigan’s Jason
Gillman, who said he worries that the conservative Republican brand is being
tarnished by the Courser/Gamrat scandal.

Gillman added that “well-reasoned opinions” like the one
presented by Terry can lead to an epiphany.

“Even if I have agreed previously that Courser and Gamrat
should resign,” Gillman concluded, “I just don’t feel that way any longer.”
