It’s not exactly Occupy Macomb County but we are the home of three separate protests today that are just a few hours apart.
At lunchtime, a group of people converged on the Macomb County Courthouse in downtown Mount Clemens to protest Attorney General Bill Schuette’s recent decision to shut down a Chesterfield Township medical marijuana shop. Big Daddy’s was shuttered as part of Schuette’s crackdown, and the AG shows no signs of backing down.
At 1 p.m., a small crowd descended upon the Macomb GOP headquarters in Shelby Township to demonstrate against congressional Republicans’ opposition to President Obama’s jobs plan. The demonstration was organized by a group called Good Jobs Now.
At 4:30 p.m., followers of We Are The People will protest outside Gov. Rick Snyder’s fundraising event in Sterling Heights. As they have done many times before, the group will criticize Snyder’s cuts to education and other government programs. They will also express opposition to the Legislature moving toward a right to work law, which the governor has said it not one of his priorities.
No explanation for why all three protests were scheduled on the same day. It seems that the liberals out there have a special fondness for Thursdays. Is it TGIT?
