This is Rusty, who is credited as the founder of Dogs Against Romney
It sounded like a silly gimmick when it first surfaced — a new political organization known as Dogs Against Romney – but the group sure had a tail-wagging good time outside the Westminister Dog Show in New York, which gained them considerable coverage from many news outlets.
The tiny group of canines and owners, carrying anti-Romney placards, gathered on the street and attracted attention from ABC News, L.A. Times, CNN, two European newspapers and others.
The Facebook-based group, which has accumulated 26,000 followers, was sparked in large part by the now-infamous incident in which the Republican presidential candidate put his Irish Setter inside a dog crate and strapped it to the roof of his vehicle for a 12-hour drive to a family vacation.
I wonder if some pollster is going to create a new survey question that measures the support for Romney among pet lovers. As the reporters who converged on Tuesday’s protest know, animal lovers are passionate about their beliefs. Based on the big response for such a small event, I suspect the media is begging for more.
