Macomb County’s interim finance director, Dave Diegel, has become the Brett Favre of county government.
Diegel retired in January 2010 after a long and successful career.Then, weeks later, he resurfaced as a county consultant, steering the process of getting a good Wall Street rating for a bond issue. Then he was gone again. Retired.
Then he resurfaced in January as county Executive Mark Hackel’s choice for interim finance director.
Now, if Pete Provenzano, the Roseville assistant city manager, is confirmed by the Board of Commissioners, Provenzano will take over and Diegel will be out. Retired again.
I don’t think, however, that Diegel’s decision to call it quits had anything to do with some racy photos taken on his cell camera.
