The Romeo Area Tea Party has established itself as one of the larger groups of tea partiers in Michigan and perhaps the most sophisticated of all. As I’ve said before, they have an impressive website, they routinely invite speakers to their meetings who talk in great detail about a specific subject, and now they’re starting to use the Internet to their advantage.
With the Christmas season upon us, RATP has two messages for its membership: Come help us celebrate Jesus; and don’t forget to use our Amazon.com service when Christmas shopping to help us raise money.
On Monday, the tea partiers will throw a real party – a Christmas gathering featuring the Rob Mills Family, a religious singing group. The five-member family has performed at numerous religious conventions and conferences. The family’s motto: “Bringing people to the life changing touch of Jesus Christ!”
The event, free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. at Capital Banquet Center, 12350 31 Mile, Washington Township.
Because the event is free, that allows RATP members
more cash to spend on holiday shopping on Amazon.
RATP smartly signed on as an Amazon Associate website. As a result, RATP members (and family and friends) can essentially choose the tea party group as their favorite nonprofit organization. That means the RATP reaps some proceeds from any online purchases if shoppers follow a few simple steps on their computer.
Of course, the RATP site also provides simple instructions so that even amateurs at the computer keyboard can handle the maneuvers.
This is one time the conservatives at the RATP are willing to embrace the PC approach – as in, personal computer.
