Yesterday I blogged that Rep. Candy Miller and Sen. Debbie Stabenow “dodged” the press by failing to release a statement on President Obama’s deficit-reduction speech. That drew a sharp retort from the senator’s press office who said that I would have received a response if I had asked.
Stabenow did not send out an e-mail “blast” to the press, but two reporters who requested a response on Wednesday received this statement:
“We’ve got to scrutinize and measure everything the government does and cut what’s not working to reduce our country’s debt.  But we need to hold government accountable and eliminate unnecessary items, not put the entire burden on middle class families and seniors.  For example, I will not support the Republican plan that ends Medicare as we know it and forces seniors to pay thousands of dollars more for health care, while not cutting giveaways to special interests like giant oil and drug companies.”
