Most governors of key states on the presidential primary map relish the opportunity to take in the spotlight and receive best-buddy treatment from the presidential wannabes seeking endorsements.
But Rick Snyder is not your typical governor. And he has demonstrated repeatedly that he’s not a conventional politician.
In a news report last week that received surprisingly little attention, political pundit Tim Skubick interviewed Snyder on Mackinac Island about who he favors, so far, in the presidential race. And Snyder delivered a rare response — he probably won’t endorse at all.
“I’m going to stay out of the presidential race for quite a while.  What job was I hired to do?  Was I hired to give an opinion on who should be the next president? Or was I hired to run the state of Michigan?
“I have personal views. But what if Romney said, ‘I need your help?’ Mitt Romney is a good guy. There’s a number of good people running for office.
“As a practical matter, though, as far as formally endorsing at this point in time, that is not on my check list or my radar.”
