For the second time in a week, Congesswoman Candy Miller made an appearance on MSNBC this morning to give her sales pitch for Gov. Rick Perry. It didn’t sound like the Candy Miller I know.
Miller, Perry’s Michigan campaign chairwoman, spoke with Chuck Todd in the Oakland University press room in advance of tonight’s presidential debate.
The Harrison Township Republican tried to soft-pedal Perry’s opposition to the bridge loans for General Motors and Chrysler. She pointed out that those loans were repaid, though her tone was curiously casual.
But my ears really perked up when she said that the auto industry has recovered “a bit.” A bit? That sounds a whole lot different than Miller’s speech to a business group last month when she was gushing about how spectacularly the Big Three has recovered and how no one is a bigger booster of the domestic automakers than she.
