Over at the Stoner Culture website, they’ve posted a blog backing Libertarian Gary Johnson’s run for president with this headline: Gary Johnson is a complete badass.
While Stoner Culture doesn’t delve into politics much, the Johnson campaign turned the blog post into a press release touting the candidate. Like most potheads, those in the Stoner Culture crowd are big fans of Ron Paul. The site praises Paul, saying that there is “probably not a more sincere, consistent and honest politician that actually has a chance at becoming president.”
Then the message posted alerts all the fellow tokers out there of another political star:
“The other is the largely unknown former governor of New Mexico: Gary Johnson. A young, active, perhaps more progressive version of Ron Paul, Johnson has gained notoriety (and respect) for having climbed Mts. Everest, Elbrus, McKinley and Kilimanjaro, performing impressive 140+ mile triathlons, and a 100-mile run through the Rocky Mountains. He also survived a 50-foot fall from a paragliding accident and treated his pain with medicinal marijuana.
“No, he is not a myth, though he might sound too good to be true. He is highly vocal about his disdain for the War on Drugs, specifically the War on Marijuana. In fact, he has been firmly (and loudly) of this opinion as far back as 1999, long before the argument was part of public discourse.”
It’s hard to imagine typical stoners relating to triathletes and mountain climbers, but I guess under the right conditions, anything can happen.

Although I am not sure of Gary Johnson he is absolutely right about the War on Drugs as is Ron Paul. The reason the War still exists is because the government can use drugs as an excuse to confiscate all of a citizens possessions whether they are found guilty or not. There is no evidence that all of the billions of dollars spent on this make believe war have produced any results whatsoever, unless you count lining the pockets of the DEA, or making a lot of attorneys richer and clogging our courts and prison systems. One thing Gary Johnson got right was that Ron Paul is the ONLY sincere, honest, and consistent politician in this debacle of a race. Why oh why does the media and the powers that be keep shoving Mitt down our throats? He has no idea what middle class even is and God help those of us in the middle class and the poor should he win the nomination and the presidency. The only logical choice in this race is Ron Paul yet sadly he was not given the same opportunity to speak at any of debates so far which to date have all been a grunting contest between Mitt and Newt. It has almost been like he is the invisible man. The only candidate that has served in the military, worked in the government and as a physician. Pity that our elections are now bought and paid for by the very wealthy and huge corporations. All elections in the future should be publicly funded as it evens the playing field. Who gives a rats ass which candidate is more photogenic? Oh, and just for the record I am not what you call a "stoner" but rather a 57 year old mother of 3 and grandmother of 6. I voted Ron Paul before and I will do it again. This country is in such abysmal condition because of the Romneys and the Gingrichs and all the other career politicians that amazingly take a $60,000 a year job and emerge 4 years later millionaires. Now is the time to take our country back from the haves and return the power to the people. End the Fed, get the government out of our homes and our lives, bring home all the troops in other countries and utilize them to protect our borders and fix our roads and bridges, and quit starting senseless inane never ending wars as it is not our job to police the world. Mr. Paul was spot on when he asked in one debate "Why can't we talk to other leaders like we used to?". And for heaven's sake quit doling out money to other countries. This country of ours is so badly broken that it takes someone like Ron Paul to fix it. All Romney intends to do as President is line his own pockets and pass yet more useless legislation that always seem to come back to bite the citizens in the butt. So the rest of you that seem to be hell bent on keeping this country down, go ahead and vote for your Mitt's or Newt's. I on the other hand and sick and tired of more of the same and hope we can salvage what little we have left of our liberty and freedom and refuse to be hoodwinked by the talking heads that say little and mean even less.
