County Executive Mark Hackel’s promotional video for Macomb County was played for the audience last week at the opening of the new Michigan Defense Center in Sterling Heights.
The crowd, consisting largely of political and business leaders, greeted the spot with hardy applause when it ended. This is the same video that debuted at Hackel’s State of the County address in December. Now it is being used to promote the county, along with the slogan “Make Macomb Your Home.”
Particularly impressed with Hackel’s narration during the video was Michigan Economic Development Corporation CEO Michael Finney.
“As you know, in our Pure Michigan ads we pay a certain actor to do the voice-over,” Finney, referring to Tim Allen, said to the crowd. “We may be able to get a new voice. That was pretty phenomenal.”
Maybe Hackel is planning to hold off on that opportunity until the day when he becomes governor.

We saw this at the Michigan Defense Center opening at Velocity last week and could hardly wait to see it on YouTube so we could share. It's a great way to showcase our community in a positive light.
