I’ve been remiss in not pointing this out: There are only 15 House members who have not missed a vote this year (based on stats through Oct. 31) and both Macomb County representatives are in that select group.
Candy Miller and Sandy Levin have perfect attendance records, never missing one of the 814 votes held in the House through October.
The list of those who have not missed a vote also includes two additional Michigan lawmakers, Fred Upton and Jason Amash.
The list, compiled by The New York Times, shows the voting record of every House member. It reveals that 18 representatives have missed at least 10 percent of the votes cast.
The Times is fairly terse in its listing of those with the worst attendance records, including the reasons given for why they go missing so often:
* Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz. District 8, 98.5 percent (of votes missed), shot on Jan. 8;
* Maurice Hinchey D-N.Y., District 22, 27.1 percent, illness;
* Michele Bachmann R-Minn., District 6, 26.0 percent, running for president;
* Ron Paul R-Tex., District 14, 21.3 percent, running for president;
* Don Young R-Alaska, District 1, 16.2 percent, cited distance from D.C.
