Lansing-based pollster Steve Mitchell, via Facebook, points out that House Speaker John Boehner had much more at stake in the budget showdown than most. As the face of the Republican caucus, Boehner now gets a little taste of what Nancy Pelosi endured.
Mitchell said that, according to a new CNN Opinion Research Poll, Boehner has a 41% favorable/44% unfavorable rating. That’s a sharp drop from one month ago, when it was 41%-27%. “It’s still much higher than Speaker Pelosi about one year ago (29%-53%),” Mitchell said, “but his budget victory had some cost.”
