How to deal with Michigan’s crumbling roads is the subject of a public forum on Monday in Clinton Township that will feature three of the area’s experts on road repairs.
The audience will be encouraged to pose questions to a panel about needed road improvements in Macomb County and across Michigan, and on the subject of Gov. Rick Snyder’s proposal to raise funds for road repairs by boosting the fee charged for vehicle registrations.
State Reps. Marilyn Lane, a Fraser Democrat, and Anthony Forlini, a Harrison Township Republican, act as moderators.
The panel will consist of Rep. Ken Goike, a Ray Township Republican and vice chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation; Rep. Lesia Liss, a Warren Democrat, who serves on the House Transportation Committee; Robert Hoepfner, director of the Macomb County Department of Roads; Drew Buckner, manager of the Macomb Transportation Center for the Michigan Department of Transportation; and Roy C. Rose, civil engineer, vice chair of a group known as Business for Better Transportation.
The forum will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Macomb Intermediate School District building, 44001 Garfield Road, adjacent to Macomb Community College center campus.
