On their web site, the leaders of the Romeo Area Tea Party  reminds its followers that they need to maintain a certain professionalism while keeping the fires burning  on the inside. Essentially, be activists with an attitude.
Relying upon some of the writings from the conservative Mackinac Center, the RATP leadership offers this:
“As Tea Party members, our number one asset is our attitude.  However, the attitude and passion that we possess, must also have the endurance to last a long time.  Success will be a matter of us being able to stay engaged and maintain our attitude long term.  This will be a marathon not a sprint.
“I am sure that the other side believes that the Tea Party movement won’t last.  After all, that is how they have been successful in obtaining their goals in the past.  They simply outlast us.  Even now, they are biding their time, waiting for us to grow weary and fade away.  We must prove them wrong.  It will require a tireless effort of exerting pressure on all levels of government for them to employ conservative principals.  In the end, it will be our attitude, our keen understanding of the issues, and our stubbornness that will help us win the day.  We did not get into this mess overnight and there are no quick fix solutions.  We are in this for the long haul.”
The web entry then refers to several pieces of advice offered by the Mackinac Center for grassroots conservatives, which were tweaked to directly address the RATP:
1. Tea Party activists aren’t impressed that their politician is a “nice guy.”
2. Tea Party activists don’t presume virtue in party labels.
3. Tea Party activists really know their own lawmakers’ voting records.
4. Tea Party activists follow the money.
5. Tea Party activists know they don’t have to get elected to change the world.
6. Tea Party activists don’t ‘repress their feelings’ regarding fiscal malpractice.
7. Tea Party activists focus on what unites them, not things that may divide.
