A nonpartisan research group, MapLight.org has been producing a flurry of information over the past week that helps voters understand who makes campaign contributions to who.
Now, the watchdog website has put together a database that shows which companies and business organizations are most influential on Capitol Hill.
For example, here’s MapLight’s profile of the American Bankers Association:
- 5th Highest Contributing Company, having contributed over $6 million to members of Congress
- 5th Most Interested Company, having supported 33 and opposed 43 bills in Congress
- 9th Most Influential Company , winning votes on 14 bills on which it took a position
