Macomb County boaters, marina owners and waterfront residents will have a voice in Washington as Congresswoman Candy Miller again will serve as co-chair of the Congressional Boating Caucus for 2011-12.
Miller, a Harrison Township Republican, has held that co-chair position since 2007 and she has been a caucus member since taking a seat in Congress in 2003.
The caucus is a bipartisan group of senators and representatives that articulates the needs of the recreational marine industry.  Their mission, according to Miller, is to improve the economic viability of the industry, support the protection of the environment, further boating safety awareness, and foster international opportunities for the industry.
“As life-long boater, I know the important role the marine and boating industry plays in many of our nation’s communities,” Miller said in a statement. “…Together, we will work hard to ensure that the use of our waters remain safe, enjoyable and economically viable for years to come.”
