Kudos to Macomb Community College for its selection as one of 120 community colleges nationwide to compete for a $1 million grant in the Aspen Institute Prize for Community College Excellence.
U.S. Rep. Sander Levin, who frequently attends seminars at the Aspen Institute in Colorado said he’s pulling for MCC to take the top prize. “Macomb Community College is a shining example nationwide of the vital role that community colleges play in both enriching students’ lives and preparing them to thrive in the workplace.”
The 120 community colleges were chosen, according to the Aspen Institute, because they demonstrated strong outcomes in three areas:
- Student success in persistence and completion;
- Consistent improvement in outcomes over time; and
- Equity in outcomes for students of all racial/ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Macomb Community College was one of five Michigan schools selected to compete for the prize.
The others are Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Mott Community College in Flint, Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, and Delta College in University Center.
