I am busy calling local hospitals for information on a potential
influx of patients suffering from head explosions.

Let me explain. For years, many of our Macomb Daily
readers have complained incessantly that we run far too many photos of County
Executive Mark Hackel. This is a beef among our readership that goes back to
2001 when Hackel first became county sheriff.

Since his elevation to county executive in 2011, the
complaints have only mounted. In our defense, Hackel is now, in effect, the el presidente
of Macomb County and he is everywhere, ready to get his photo taken by the
media.

So, this brings me to Thursday’s front page of The Macomb
Daily. We have not one, but two, large photos of Hackel on our front page above
the fold. One commemorates his naming of the peregrine falcon chicks that
hatched near the top of the old County Building. The other referenced the
Hackel administration boycott of a Board of Commissioners meeting where 124
government contracts worth $82 million were addressed.

Pondering that front page, I could only think of one
thing: With one look, the Hackel-haters’ heads must have exploded.
