When will this partisan BS over the killing of Osama bin Laden end?
Congressman Jerrold Nadler, a liberal New York City Democrat, has offered a motion in the House which would honor those Navy SEALs and intelligence teams responsible for the successful mission to locate and take out Bin Laden.
Nadler was joined by Democrats Keith Ellison of Minnesota (the only Muslim in Congress) and Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas (possibly the most liberal member of Congress).
The motion commends the U.S. intelligence community, Navy SEALs, Presidents Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and all of those involved in the operation over many years. It also states that the highest priority for the intelligence community should be the disruption, dismantlement, and defeat of al-Qaida.
Nadler says this should be a non-partisan issue, but the motion has failed to gain support from the GOP side of the aisle.
“I am outraged by the unwillingness of Republican members of Congress to lend their support to the amendment I offered today,” Nadler said.
“I strongly believe that GOP opposition is solely based on a politically-motivated refusal to credit President Obama for accomplishing the mission to kill Osama bin Laden.”
It also seems that the Muslim bloc in Congress (one) supports the killing of bin Laden more than the Republican caucus.

This is an intellectually dishonest commentary. The GOP has offered credit to President Obama, as well as the intelligence community and of the course the brave Seals who finished the job. Dems know that the House in January passed a resolution banning congratulatory bills because of the time constraints they cause. While, I believe an exception should be made in this case, the politicizing by the left is disgusting. The fact that recent polling states that 20% of Dems disagree with the killing of UBL and that Muslims all over the world have been protesting the killing of UBL shows dishonesty of the article title in addition to the content itself.
Also, Ellison is one of two Muslims in congress. Andre Carson of Indiana is also a member of the faith. Do a little research.
I appreciate "centrist" blog postings like this.
The people involved in this effort know that their efforts are appreciated by the American people. They don't need a Congressional proclamation to boost their self-esteem.
A Congressional proclamation is a worthless accolade, and serves no purpose, since by definition, this was a "black-op", and therefore anonymous. You can't hang a certificate on your wall if you can't acknowledge that you were there.
