I mentioned last week that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was staging a contest to determine who could come up with the best bumper sticker slogan for 2012.
I also mentioned that the DSCC’s initial offerings were pretty weak (you can click on my March archives). Not funny. Not witty.
Well, the contest is over and, based on 9,000 entries, the DSCC chose this:
“No Tea For Me, Thanks. I Prefer Progress.”
Not great, but not bad. I suspect the Tea Party activists will not appreciate it.
Guy Cecil of the DSCC wrote to loyal Democrats about the contest results. In an e-mail message he said: “Some of your slogans were funny. Others were thought-provoking. All were passionate. Our winner does a good job of contrasting stale Republican Tea Party ideas with the direction Democrats want to take our country – always forward.”
We’ll see if the bumper sticker (magnet) actually accelerates the Dems’ chances in Senate races.
