A correction:
The headline and lead paragraph on one of my Tuesday blog posts was inaccurate. I was wrong to say that Oakland County (unlike Macomb) has no ethics ordinance.
In Oakland County, they have a 22-year-old Standards of Conduct policy that consists of one page. The political tussle on their Board of Commissioners is over a comprehensive ethics policy, similar to Macomb’s, that would take a stricter approach to nepotism, conflicts of interest, graft or financial disclosure. The proposed policy also provides penalties and an enforcement mechanism.

Btw: The Wayne County Board of Commissioners adopted an ethics policy, which seems like it’s modeled after Macomb’s ordinance, on a 14-1 vote on Thursday.
