For space reasons, the views of Reps. Sandy Levin and Candice Miller were left out of my Sunday column on the U.S. military intervention in Libya.
Miller has made her feelings well known – that the president should not have gone in, did not have the authority to go in, and didn’t explain to the nation the goals or strategy of going in.
But, in this fast-moving story, Levin on Friday provided this statement to The Macomb Daily:
“The president has made it clear that the U.S. is working as one member of a broad coalition — that the president worked to create — and that NATO will lead the enforcement of the no-fly zone and the protection of civilians on the ground. I support the president’s decision to participate with our NATO allies, the Arab League, and the international community in this joint effort.”
