Left-wing commentator Ed Schultz, who has an Olbermann-like obsession with his completion on cable TV news,  essentially made a fool of himself recently on his radio show when he tried to take aim at CNN’s Anderson Cooper. (Cooper’s “360” show airs at 8 p.m. weeknights alongside Schultz’s MSNBC program.)
After Schultz was included in a satirical piece in “GQ” magazine that named their “25 Least Influential People Alive,” Schultz spouted off, suggesting to his radio audience that Cooper conspired to get Schultz on the list. After all, Schultz said, the dapper Cooper obviously hangs around with that “GQ crowd.”
However, Schultz assured his loyal listeners, he is kicking Cooper’s a–. That was a reference to TV ratings, though the talk-show host’s angry tone suggested he wanted to get Cooper — and the people at “GQ” — in the ring.

Later, Cooper reluctantly responded by putting Schultz on his “Ridiculist” – a sort of hall of shame for people who say or do ridiculous things in a public way. Cooper told his audience:
“Let me be honest, I don’t really know who Ed Schultz is. I’m told he yells a lot, and I know he works at MSNBC.
“… Why anyone — anyone — would care what someone writes about them in a humor column in “GQ” I cannot even begin to understand, but apparently he has pretty thin skin for someone who goes around calling people sluts.”
That was a reference to Schultz’s suspension last year for twice referring to righty talker Laura Ingraham in an on-air comment as a political slut.
Over at the Rise Of The Center website, they applauded Cooper’s deft dismissal of “wingnut” Schultz. They indicate Schultz has an “ideologically riddled mind” and is now paying the price.
“He really does seem like a left wing version of Rush Limbaugh,” the centrist site concluded.
