Donald Trump on Friday brings his surging presidential campaign to Macomb County, one of the billionaire businessman’s strongest areas of support in advance of the Michigan primary on March 8.
The Trump campaign announced this morning that he will hold a rally at the Macomb Community College Expo Center in Warren at 9 a.m. Doors will open at 6 a.m. The MCC south campus is located at 14500 12 Mile Road, at Hayes Road.
The Republican frontrunner will hold a second rally Friday at 1 p.m. at the Wexford Civic Center in Cadillac. Both events follow on the heels of a GOP presidential debate slated for Thursday night at the Fox Theater in Detroit that will pit Trump against Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Ben Carson.
MCC has hosted numerous visits by presidents and presidential candidates since Macomb County was first recognized as a key swing county, the birthplace of the Reagan Democrats, in the 1980s.
Trump enjoys double-digit leads in two recent Michigan polls and his support in Macomb is at 40 percent, far ahead of the rest of the field.
The real estate tycoon’s Michigan plans were unveiled as he appears on the verge of scoring a smashing victory in today’s Super Tuesday contests. According to polls, Trump holds clear leads in seven of the 11 Republican primaries and caucuses. A candidate other than Trump is the favorite in just one state: Cruz, in the senator’s home state of Texas. The other three states lack reliable polling.
