Because of all the activities associated with Lake St.
Clair, Macomb County has a clear interest in environmental protection.

Yet, most of our lawmakers in Lansing vote against key environmental
legislation on a regular basis.
The 2013-14 environmental scorecard released this week by
the Michigan League of Conservation Voters found two Macomb legislators, Rep. Jon
Switalski and Sen. Steve Bieda, both Warren Democrats, with a 100 percent
score. Rep. Sarah Roberts (D-St. Clair Shores) was awarded a 75 percent score,
in part due to her role as a lead sponsor of legislation that would place
restrictions on fracking.
Switalski
On the other end of the spectrum, Sen. Jack Brandenburg
(R-Harrison Township) scored a zero. Rep. Andrea LaFontaine (R-Columbus
Township), who chairs the House Committee on Natural Resources, received a
score of just 30 percent.
And all of the other lawmakers from Macomb scored 50 percent
or less except for Rep. Henry Yanez (D-Sterling Heights), who is at 70 percent.

The Michigan LCV bases their scorecard on several House and
Senate votes that affect Michigan land, energy and water, plus bill
sponsorships and votes in committees.
