Kleinsmith, who runs the Centrist Review website, is out to destroy all the
phony arguments used to discredit centrists and moderates. His
latest target is the “false equivalence” used by the left when confronted with
facts that show Democrats and Republicans have both contributed greatly to the
dysfunction in Washington.
“While
not universally so, a large majority of the time this particular deceptive
rhetorical attack is made it is coming from
a liberal who is attacking a political centrist or moderate that has made
a comment to the tune of both Democrats and Republicans are responsible for
some negative thing happening,” Kleinsmith writes
.
“This is one of the most regular locally fallacious attacks I’ve
had directed my way over the years of writing for or running a centrist blog, along with tripes like the center doesn’t
really exist, and/or I’m secretly a zealot of the polar opposite faction,
pretending to be standing in the central range of the ideological spectrum.
“Given the poor state of
political affairs in our country, and the state of both parties, anyone who is
paying attention can see that both sides have done their part to get us to the
sorry state we’re in, but the ideologically blinded among us don’t take too
kindly to stating the obvious.
“There have been rare occasions where some
centrist or moderate commenter, blogger or pundit says that both parties are
responsible to the same degree, in which case calling out whom said that for
this would probably be accurate. That being said, it is rare for that exact claim
to be made. It
seems hard to believe that that the two sides would
be anywhere near exactly equally to blame on any major issue.
