UPDATE: According to the Macomb County Public Works Office, work should be completed by Friday afternoon on a “void” that formed under 15 Mile Road in Fraser, just east of Hayes Road.
The Macomb County Public Works Office is working with the city of Fraser and Macomb County Department of Roads to fill the void, caused by a leaking water main. Leaking water caused some of the soil under the road to wash away in two locations, about 50 feet apart. The leaking main was capped today. No homes or businesses lost water service.
Two lanes of the road were closed Wednesday morning to accomplish the work.
The subsurface gap was being filled with dirt today and should be re-paved with a winter mixture of pavement on Friday. The road is expected to be fully re-opened prior to the Monday morning commute, after the pavement has time to set. The repair area will be re-paved in warmer weather — in the spring or early summer.

A gap under 15 Mile Road in Fraser, adjacent to the site of the massive sinkhole that developed in 2015, was discovered today by road crews. One lane was closed due to cracking pavement.

The Macomb County Public Works Office is working with the city of Fraser and Macomb County Dept. of Roads to fill in a void that formed under 15 Mile Road between Hayes and Utica Roads, in Fraser.
The void appears to have formed due to a water leak from a faulty water connection to a fire hydrant in the area. The water leak washed away some soil and caused a void to form under the southernmost, eastbound lane of the road. Fraser Dept. of Public Works officials noticed a crack in the road early this morning during snow plow / salting operations and closed the lane.
To make the repair, a small stretch of pavement will need to be removed, the water line repaired, the void filled with dirt, and a temporary repair made to the pavement. A more permanent pavement repair can be made once warmer weather returns.
