Fresh off of a day of “contentious” testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is preparing to speak to a pro-Trump group in suburban Detroit later this month.

Lewandowski will address an organization called Michigan Trump Republicans on March 23 for a Troy event they call the “2018 Kickoff Party.” The group is not associated with the Michigan Republican Party and it is not registered as a state or federal political action committee (PAC). Rather, it is affiliated with the Michigan Conservative Coalition, which is a 501(c)4 nonprofit group.

Lewandowski, who was fired as the Trump campaign manager in June 2016, will be the guest of honor at an event that features a “VIP happy hour” with Lewandowski for $125 per person followed by the speech, with general admission tickets going for $75 and a promise of “heavy appetizers and premium open bar.”

The site for the 5 to 9 p.m. gathering is the American Polish Cultural Center, located on the Oakland County/Macomb County border, on Maple Road just west of Dequindre.  It’s unclear who the proceeds will benefit.

Based in Walled Lake, Michigan Trump Republicans held several events in succession last year through October then kept a comparatively low profile until last month. They have six events scheduled across the state in the coming weeks.

For the group’s most ardent supporters, the upcoming Lewandowski event is a return engagement. The former Trump campaign chief appeared at the Conservative Coalition’s “Battle Cry” conference last month at the Soaring Eagle hotel and casino in Mount Pleasant.

That confab also featured the highly controversial conservative Dinesh D’Souza and it was attended by several GOP candidates for governor, two secretary of state candidates – Stan Grot and Mary Treder Lang – and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sandy Pensler.
“At our meetings you will hear the most current talking points directly from the White House that will embolden you to speak up and defend President Trump,” the group says on their website.

They also claim, “We are receiving daily updates from the White House regional director and participating with monthly conference calls with the White House nationwide.”
